RAPID POPULATION GROWTH RATE IN NEPAL
INTRODUCTION:
The population growth rate is the rate of increase in population due to Birth, Migration, and Death. Whereas, Rapid Population Growth means the process by which population increases at a high rate. Birth, Death, and Migration play a vital role in the growth of the population.
Population Growth In Nepal:
From 1968 BS, the population census began in Nepal. Here, is the list of the trend of population growth in Nepal. It is listed from the SOURCE: CBS 2011 AD.

Causes of Population Growth Rate In Nepal :
Birth, death, and migration are the main responsible factors for population change. Some major causes of rapid population growth rate are simply described below :
1) Illiteracy and Traditional Thinking :
Illiteracy is one of the major causes and problems of population growth in developing countries like Nepal. According to the 11th census report of 2011 AD, of the total population of Nepal, only 65.9 % of people are literate. Illiterate people consider children as a Gift of God, so they produce more babies but they are unknown to the consequences of having more children. This traditional thinking will increase the population growth rate in the country. This kind of Traditional thinking and misconception will be eliminated only through good education which helps to maintain the population of the country.
2) Poverty and Unemployment :
Poverty and Unemployment are other deep-rooted causes of population growth in Nepal. Around 25 %of the people in Nepal live below the poverty level. Due to a lack of job opportunities, many people sit ideally at their homes. As a result, they engage in sexual intercourse. Hence, poverty and Unemployment directly lead to an increase in the population growth of the country.
Here, is one most important point, illiteracy traditional thinking, poverty, and unemployment not only increases the population of the country it will decrease the population of the country too. Due to traditional thinking and lack of awareness, people are not confident to use the available health facility. The priority of people to choose traditional healers over modern medical facilities causes and increases the death rate, which directly affects the population of the country.
Poor people do not have an opportunity to educate their children. So, poor people are forced to live in an unhealthy environment, which increases the mortality rate of the country and it directly affects the population of the country.
Effects Of Rapid Population Growth :
Rapid population growth has mostly negative impacts on developing countries like Nepal. Following are some negative impacts of rapid population growth :

4) There will be a scarcity of food, clothes, and shelter.
5) Environment will be more polluted and lose biodiversity.
6) There will be security problems and social crimes will increases.
7) Lack of health facilities.
Measures Of Population Management :
1) Marriage at appropriate age :
Early marriage prevents girls from education which unfortunately impacts their all-around development. Due to this, they can not take appropriate decisions. They will be unaware of the negative impact on their health. So, early marriage should be eliminated properly. Therefore, people should marriage at the appropriate age. Those couples who married at an appropriate age can take their decisions very wisely. They get the opportunity to learn skills, knowledge and were more aware, and can be self-dependent. They can take care of their children and their health. They will be well equipped with family planning which helps to manage the population of the country. So, marriage at the appropriate age is also one of the important measures of population management in our country.
2) Improving The Status Of Women
Nepal is a male-dominated society where women don't get equal opportunity as male has. Moreover, women are deprived of getting quality education too. Due to the deprivation of education, they lack proper understanding about the appropriate age for marriage and childbearing, family size, maternity and child health care, use of contraceptives devices, and learning and gaining knowledge. So, everybody needs to understand that the population of a place is a reflection of the status of women of that place. An educated woman helps to keep the family healthy and happy and also to contribute to the well-being of their society. As a result, it is very necessary and essential to uplift the status of women in our society which ultimately helps to manage the population of the country.
3) Family Planning:
Family planning is very important to live a healthy and prosperous family life. It helps to overcome the various problems and challenges in the family by formulating and implementing proper plans and policies to establish a better relationship among the family members for proper family planning. Family life education plays a vital role. Family life education teaches to be self-awareness, understanding of others, sexuality, marriage, and parenthood. It is the best way to solve the problems existing in the family. So, family planning plays an important role in the population management of a country.
Rapid population growth has led to unrestricted, urbanization, which has produced overflowing, poverty, violation, adulteration, and political disorder. Rapid population growth has outrun increases in food production, and population pressure has led to the overworked of cultivable land and its ruination. The population of the country should be properly managed.
