The month of Ashar or June, the period of monsoon in Nepal. NEPAL is an agro-based country, For Agro-based countries, the monsoon is like a blessing, the monsoon rain freshen up Environment and the Greenery glows up, the environment looks greenery which caught everyone's eyes. The farmer becomes more happy, active, and more energetic during the monsoon season. In Nepal, the most population shows their interest in agriculture and for many ages, Nepalese people are celebrating Ashar 15 as the Dhan Diwas (NATIONAL PADDY DAY), so every Nepalese celebrate 15 Ashar as the main festival. At every festival, there is a special food and on this celebration, DAHI CHIURA is the special dish which is having by every Nepali on this day wherever in the world the Nepali are. DAHI CHIURA is considered as the lucky break which is good for our health too.
15th Ashar or fifteen Ashar is the beginning of rice planting in Nepal, The Nepal Government has declared Ashar 15 as the DHAN DIWAS (national paddy day) .on these days all the farmers of Nepal get into their fields wearing their traditional dresses, with traditional types of equipment like halo juwa, kodalo, etc but nowadays more than the traditional tools modern or advanced tools are used. Which also symbolizes the modernization in the agriculture fields.
On the fifteen Ashar, there is the system of conducting program in which all the men and women get into the wet muddy, they splash and play with the wet mud over one another, farmers used to sing a typical folk song which is known as Asare geet and all of them are having the DAHI CHIURA at afternoon.
While planting the paddy, There is the great hope of growing tons of paddy. The season of monsoon reflects the happiness and joys of every farmer.
Fifteen Ashar is becoming more and more popular year by year, the tourist from different countries of worlds who are visiting Nepal for their entertainment is also participating in the programs which are conducted on these days and they also seemed to have a lot of fun by playing and splashing wet mud, participating in running, dancing in the wet mud. It is also becoming one of the great explorations of culture. The people who are getting into the field in wet mud these days had great fun and this will be the best moment of life, everyone is enjoying over there.
While planting the paddy certain responsibilities are shared among the women and men. Actually, the men will take the responsibility of plow, levels the fields, arranges water, and make the mud fine for the plantations. Similarly, women will take the responsibility of planting the paddy. All of them are really seem to enjoy it a lot.
These festivals also help to make the strong relationship among the member of society because everyone is gathering in the fields and sharing their happiness and narrowness or the obstacles through the means of song, describing the problems they had to face in the whole process of planting and growing crops until they get the productivity.
The main motive of conducting these programs is to support the Farmers. As the rate of involvement in agriculture is decreasing so encouraging people to work in the field and utilizing the barren fields.SO, involving today's youth in the field and increasing the rate of productions to make the country to be independent in terms of agriculture is the main moto of declaring Ashar 15 as the National paddy day in Nepal.
