IMPORTANCE OF BIODIVERSITY

   IMPORTANCE   OF   BIODIVERSITY

Biodiversity is the branch of science which deals with the study of different varieties of living organisms .The word BIODIVERSITY IS derived from the word Greek word  BIOS = LIFE AND LATIN word DIVERSITAS= VARIETY. Therefore,  the word BIODIVERSITY means the variety of life. For example, the difference in the life of plants, animals, microorganisms present on the earth is known as BIODIVERSITY.

LEVELS OF BIODIVEERSITY

Conventionally, there are three (3) levels of BIODIVERSITY: Ecosystem diversity, Species diversity, and the next one is Genetic diversity. The three levels of diversity are simply presented below :

ECOSYSTEM DIVERSITY :

Ecosystem diversity means the variety of habitats biotic communities and ecological processes in the ecosystem. The number of trophic levels and various ecological processes that sustain energy flow, foods need, and recycling of nutrients is associated with Ecosystem diversity.

SPECIES DIVERSITY :

Species diversity means the variety of species within a region. Species are the major distinct units of diversity that play a significant role in an ecosystem balance.

GENETIC DIVERSITY :

Genetic diversity means the variations of genes. Genetic diversity is associated with the total genes present in individuals of plants, animals, and microorganisms.

IMPORTANCE OF BIODIVERSITY

Biodiversity is important for maintaining ecosystem ,agriculture products ,study and research, tourisms and industrial development ,improvement in breeds ,and in controlling pollution too. The IMPORTANCE OF BIODIVERSITY are listed below :

1) ECOSYSTEM MAINTAIN

2) AGRICULTURE PRODUCTS

3) STUDY AND RESEARCH

4) TOURISMS AND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT :

5) IMPROVEMENT IN BREEDS

6) CONTROL POLLUTION

The short description of IMPORTANCE OF BIODIVERSITY in Nepal  is presented below :

1) ECOSYSTEM MAINTENANCE:

Biodiversity is a crucial part of the ecosystem. Grassland ecosystem, Terrestrial ecosystem, Aquatic ecosystem, etc are the various ecosystem which exists in our Biodiversity. They help in recycling various gases like nitrogen, oxygen, carbon, and a regulating food system. Moreover, the Gaseous cycle helps to maintain the temperature of the earth which directly helps to maintain the Ecosystem. So, Biodiversity is important for balancing the Ecosystem.

2) AGRICULTURE PRODUCTS :

The varieties of food products such as vegetables, pulses, cereals, fruits, etc are provided by the Biodiversity. The major important role of Biodiversity is for the selection of seeds to produce the quality of fruits, cereals, and vegetables. It helps to promote soil protection and formation. So, Biodiversity is important for agriculture products.

3) STUDY AND RESEARCH :

Biodiversity provides various information to the biologist and the people who are involved in research and study. It provides a wide for the search of various species of plants and animals and ecological and environmental aspects. Through study and research different types of medicine are derived from the various plants and animals which are used as the raw materials products for it. So, Study and research are also the importance of Biodiversity.

4) TOURISMS AND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT :

Biodiversity provides natural beauty which catches the eye of tourists. To view the various types of Flora and Fauna people from different places comes to visit and it definitely will increase the Economic development of respective nations. The various Industrial materials such as fibers, resins, rubber, furniture, etc are used from Biodiversity. So, Biodiversity is important for tourism and industrial developments.

5) IMPROVEMENT IN BREEDS :

The gene bank of nature is varieties of animals, plants, and other living beings which are very important for improvement in breeds agricultural products like cereals, fruits, vegetables, and animals too. By cross-fertilization, undeveloped species can be improved with improved breeds. So, Biodiversity is important for the improvements in breeds.

6) CONTROL POLLUTION :

The harmful gases released from industrial activities like nitrogen oxide, ozone are purified by the plants by regulating and filtering the atmosphere. Plants help to reduce the GREENHOUSE EFFECTS  of the environment. So, Biodiversity is important for controlling pollutions too.

With the above-mentioned IMPORTANCE OF DIVERSITY, everyone can get information about the importance and levels of Biodiversity which is mentioned above with a short description. Our motivehttps://slearningeveryday.blogspot.com/ is to provide more information to the people. Apart from this, if you have any other questions, then comment us, we will   try to reply .
